Edbert “Eddie” D. Lu
Chief Technical Officer
Eddie is a current fourth-year medical student at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and an aspiring anesthesiologist. During his undergraduate years at the University of California, Berkeley, he was a mentor for underserved high school students through The Phoenix Scholars, and made it his mission to serve the greater community by providing resources to students pursuing careers in STEM. In The Klinman Group, he found mentors that inspired him to pursue research as a scientist, and after graduating with a B.A. in Molecular & Cell Biology (Emphasis in Immunology & Pathogenesis, Infectious Diseases), he went on to become a researcher in a neuro-oncology lab at the University of California, San Francisco, to investigate the tumor micro-environment of neural tumors with the purpose of identifying potential immunotherapy drug targets.
Donning a laboratory coat—and then a white coat—felt like an honor and a privilege to him. “To wear a white coat means to serve my patients with my utmost compassion, scientific knowledge, and clinical experience. To wear the laboratory coat symbolizes my dedication to improving the field of medicine and our understanding of disease to uncover novel therapies for those patients.”
